Iron ore concentrate production reached 30 million tons

Iron ore concentrate production in Iran amounted to 29,950 million tons in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-October 22), up four percent year on year.

In addition, iron ore concentrate production in the seventh month of this year increased by five percent compared to the previous year, reaching 4.432 million tons of product produced in the seventh month of this year.

Iron ore concentrate production in Iran in the previous Iranian calendar year (ending March 20) reached 49,714 million tons, an increase of five percent compared to the previous year.

According to the data of the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade, 3.533 million tons of this figure was produced in the last month of the previous year (19 February-20 March).

The country's leading iron ore concentrate producers managed to produce approximately 47,306 million tons of the product in question in the Iranian calendar year 1398.

In its outlook plan for the Iranian calendar year 1404 (2025-2026), Iran has projected an annual steel production of 55 million tons, and to achieve this target, the country needs to extract 160 million tons of iron ore.

Iran has been applying a 25 percent tax on raw mineral (especially iron ore) exports since September 2019 in order to prevent unprocessed metal exports, create more added value and meet the raw material needs of domestic producers.

The mission aims to encourage the production of more processed minerals such as pellets and concentrates, rather than selling the raw minerals.
