Iron and steel exports surge: Europe the route!

Ferrous and non-ferrous metals exports reached 1 billion dollars. Exports in the steel industry increased by USD 1.5 billion. Türkiye's iron and steel exports totaled 13% of the country's exports in September.

Romania, Germany and Italy are in the top three in Türkiye's September export numbers. Romania imported 196 million dollars, followed by Germany with 184 million dollars and Italy with 155 million dollars. Export increases of 120% in Spain, 42% in Italy, 26% in Romania and 21% in the United Kingdom were reported.

ADMIB's September export data indicates that Romania ranked at the top with exports worth 38 million dollars. Italy ranked second with 37 million dollars and Algeria ranked third with 21 million dollars. Notable increasing countries include 2194% Portugal, 501% Italy, 314% Spain, 116% United Kingdom and 100% Romania. The record increases in these countries were reported as an indicator that, in September, ADMIB exports gained strong momentum.

Fuat Tosyalı, President of the Mediterranean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (ADMIB), stated that the successful exports continue with the orders received with European demand. ” Especially the orders we received from the European market and additional demands from African countries also accelerated the recovery process in iron and steel exports. We believe that we will perform successfully in the last quarter of the year with the momentum we have gained. With the positive energy we receive, we will strive to match 2021, a year filled with records, next year."
