Iraq’s domestic rebar market remains active and in strong demand, while local producers have kept their prices largely stable over the past three weeks.
According to reports, domestic rebar producers using electric arc furnaces are offering their products at $650 to $700 per ton ex-works, with prices remaining mostly unchanged. Despite healthy demand, some factories still face power outages, although electricity supply has slightly improved compared to previous periods.
After nearly three months of absence due to high import tariffs, Iranian rebar has reappeared in Iraqi warehouses. These products are being offered at $400 to $420 per ton ex-works. Market participants report that most of these shipments enter the country illegally, without paying customs duties. Additionally, some Iraqi factories import Iranian billets and then roll them domestically.
Currently, Iranian products can be purchased at approximately $580 per ton delivered to warehouses across Iraq. This stability in domestic prices reflects a balance between strong demand and domestic production challenges, while the return of cheaper Iranian shipments has intensified market competition.
