IPIC and Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum discussed enhancing local pipe production and investments

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held a meeting with Abdulkarim Abdullah Al-Mutawa, Chairman of the International Pipe Industry Company (IPIC). The discussion focused on IPIC’s activities in Egypt and plans to increase the country’s production capacity.

A key topic was the IPIC factory located in Port Said. Established through a partnership between Egypt and Kuwait, the facility produces steel pipes and elbows used in oil and gas projects. It also supplies products for transportation, irrigation, and infrastructure projects.

Minister Badawi emphasized that supporting local production is an important goal for Egypt. Increasing the use of domestically made materials reduces dependency on imports and benefits the economy. He also noted that projects based on local manufacturing receive government support and that companies looking to invest in this sector are offered facilitation.

IPIC Chairman Al-Mutawa expressed satisfaction with their operations in Egypt. He highlighted that all staff at the Port Said factory are Egyptian and praised the country’s strong technical infrastructure and workforce.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed on the importance of expanding the factory’s production capacity and exploring further investment opportunities. The Kuwaiti delegation confirmed their willingness to increase investments in Egypt.
