India's BMWIL signs agreement with Steel Ministry for special steel production

BMW Industries (BMWIL), one of India's powerhouse steel producers, announced that it has signed Vigyan MoU with the Ministry of Steel on March 24, 2025 under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 1.1 for Special Steel.

BMWIL, one of the qualified beneficiaries of the PLI Scheme, will manufacture coated alloy or non-alloy products.

Harsh Bansal, Managing Director, BMWIL stated, “We are honored to qualify under the PLI Scheme of the Ministry of Steel under the leadership of H D Kumaraswamy, Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries. This milestone will strengthen our downstream steel capacity and expand our footprint in both domestic and international markets. With our strategically located Bokaro plant and seamless access to key resources, we are confident that this project will create lasting value for our stakeholders and contribute to the government's vision of developing specialty steelmaking in India. In line with the 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives of our Honorable Prime Minister, we are committed to promote self-sufficiency and support growth in the steel sector.”
