Steel exports fell 55 percent to 4 million tons in the April-October period, as major steelmakers suspended shipments after India imposed high export taxes in May and consumption fell. Steel production, rose 6.4% to 68 million tons.
In this period, India imported 3.2 million tons of finished steel, up 14.5% compared to the previous year.
