It has been officially announced that negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Oman have been completed. Oman’s Ambassador to India, Issa Saleh Abdullah Saleh Al Shibani, stated that the agreement is now going through legislative and administrative processes and is expected to reach the signing stage shortly.
CEPA seeks to reduce customs duties on a broader range of products while also promoting cooperation in services and encouraging investments. Currently, India’s major imports from Oman include petroleum products and urea, while iron and steel are also significant trade items.
The Ambassador highlighted that the current trade relationship is largely energy-driven, but CEPA is expected to diversify this dynamic, extending cooperation into other sectors as well.
