Huta Częstochowa aims to nearly double its production next year

Huta Częstochowa, one of Poland’s leading steel plants, aims to nearly double its production in 2026, targeting 0.5 million tons of steel.

Huta Częstochowa aims to nearly double its production next year

The steel plant owned by Węglokoks produced 213.000 tons of steel and sold 160.000 tons of sheet metal by the end of September this year. Production is planned to reach 300,000 tons by the end of the year.

Adrian Sienicki, Vice President of the Węglokoks Capital Group and President of Huta Częstochowa, announced the plant’s production targets at the “New Industry Forum” conference held in Katowice. Sienicki stated, “By the end of the year, we will produce 300.000 tons of steel, but this process is just beginning. Next year, if we want to stay in green production, this means 0.5 million tons of steel—almost double what we will produce this year.”

Huta Częstochowa operates on the assets of the bankrupt Liberty Częstochowa. The steel plant, leased to Węglokoks under an agreement made last November, resumed production in January this year. As the lessee, Węglokoks held the right of first refusal and had expressed its intent to purchase the plant’s assets. However, this spring, the Ministry of National Defence exercised its right to acquire the assets for national defense and security purposes. The Ministry’s objection process regarding the valuation of the plant’s assets is still ongoing.

Strategically, the plant has the capacity to produce ballistic and armor plates. Sienicki added, “We produce dual-use (civil and military) plates and sell them to our customers. We also have new products such as low-silicon steel and highly deformable low-carbon steel. This development not only signifies the revival of the plant but is happening right before our eyes.”
