It was reported that European producers continued to offer HRC at €700-740 ($764-808) per tonne for February-March delivery. However, market activity has decreased due to the upcoming Christmas holidays.
Ex-works prices for Northern Europe ranged between €700-710 per tonne ex-works, but sources estimated this level to be lower, tracking between €680 and €695 per tonne.
Index was up €3.92 per ton on a weekly basis and €32.50 per ton on a monthly basis. In Southern Europe, the local hot rolled coil index for Italy was reported €686.25 per ton by the end of the week, up €0.42 from €685.83 per ton in the middle of the week.
Italian index increased by €13.96 per ton on a weekly basis and by €43.33 per ton on a monthly basis. However, the market was generally quiet on the eve of the holidays.
