Hoa Phat Group, Vietnam's largest steel producer, has proactively launched an investment roadmap to develop green steel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and aim for carbon neutrality in the future.

The Vietnam Steel Industry Conference and Exhibition on green growth strategy, organized by the Vietnam Steel Association, was held on 12-13 September 2023 at the Hanoi International Convention Center. More than 200 businesses attended the conference. At the conference, where it was emphasized that green developments have become a global and national goal, Vietnamese steel producers announced their own development plans.

Hoa Phat Group, Vietnam's largest steel producer, has proactively launched an investment roadmap to develop green steel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and aim for carbon neutrality in the future.

Hoa Phat announced that it aims to be carbon neutral by 2050 by creating a roadmap to optimize all production stages in a circular, closed direction, reduce energy consumption and develop green steel according to the general direction of the company and reduce CO2 emissions.

Hoa Phat will collaborate with the world's leading metallurgical partners to research and implement a carbon-neutral metallurgical technology roadmap. For increasing the use of renewable energy, DRI direct recovery technology; He also stated that plans are being made to replace fossil fuels by using natural gas fuel to recover iron ore, to apply continuous rolling technology to reduce energy consumption, and to move towards zero CO2 emissions.

Representatives from the Ministry of Commerce (MoIT), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE), ASEAN Iron and Steel Association and International Finance Corporation (IFC) attended the conference.
