ISO 14064-1 is an environmental technical standard adopted in accordance with the Government’s Decree 06/2022 aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. It serves as a framework for quantifying a company's greenhouse gas emissions, essential for steel manufacturing enterprises seeking to export to global markets, particularly the EU.
Consequently, starting from June 2023, Hoa Phat Dung Quat initiated collaboration with consulting firms to compile reports and inventory greenhouse gas emissions, providing operational data and relevant information for the 2022-2023 period.
By the end of November 2023, the company successfully conducted the assessment of greenhouse gas inventory at its facility, fully complying with the requirements of ISO 14064-1:2018 certification on greenhouse gas inventory.
Moreover, the company also concluded the evaluation for ISO 14067:2018 concerning carbon tracing on product lines by late January 2024. The issuance of this certificate by BSI to Hoa Phat, expected in April, will further solidify its position as the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia.
