Prices for hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) and cold-rolled coil (CRC) in the United States have experienced an increase driven by supply constraints. HDG prices climbed by $40 per short ton, reaching $920 per short ton, while CRC prices saw a $20 per short ton rise to $880 per short ton ex-works.
Repeatable HDG price quotations ranged from $900 to $950 per short ton, and CRC offers fell within the range of $880 to $920 per short ton. Demand for CRC was somewhat subdued compared to HDG, resulting in relatively lower prices. Mills also extended lead times for CRC, indicating a tighter supply situation. CRC lead times expanded to 9.7 weeks from the previous 8.4 weeks.
In contrast, prices for US hot-rolled coil (HRC) remained stable due to limited spot market activity at higher offer levels. Although mills persisted in pushing for offers as high as $750 per short ton, actual spot transactions were scarce. The average lead time for HRC from mills decreased to 6.8 weeks from 7.2 weeks, with most deliveries still expected in the mid-to-late November timeframe.
