H2 Green Steel receives environmental authorisation for Boden plant

H2 Green Steel has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of the environmental permit for its state-of-the-art plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden. This achievement has been made possible through constructive collaboration between various authorities, local communities, and other reviewing stakeholders.

Henrik Henriksson, the CEO of H2 Green Steel, expressed his immense pride in the teamwork and expertise that has characterized this process, involving various departments within the company. The completion of the permit marks a momentous day for H2 Green Steel, signifying the successful culmination of their efforts.

The manufacturing plant being constructed by H2 Green Steel in Boden is set to be a cutting-edge facility. The permit granted covers an annual production capacity of 5 million tonnes of green steel. Not only is the operation significant in terms of scale, occupying an area of approximately 270 hectares, but it is also considered a complex endeavor classified as class A operations under the Environmental code. Remarkably, the entire process, starting from the application submission to the issuance of the full permit, has been completed in less than 18 months.

Henriksson emphasized that this achievement is not only a cause for celebration within H2 Green Steel but also a major milestone for Sweden as a whole. The successful and efficient handling of this complex permit matter demonstrates that Sweden can expedite such processes when all parties involved work together.
