The plant, planned to be built in Sarora village in the Tahsil Tilda area of Raipur city, is an important part of GPIL's growth strategy.
The approval by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change was granted at the 7th meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) held on July 9, 2025 and details were made public on July 16.
The new integrated steel plant will consist of two modules, each with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons. In addition to increasing GPIL's production capacity, this project is expected to contribute to the development of the steel industry in the region and strengthen the local economy.
GPIL plans to significantly increase its capacity and production efficiency with this investment in line with its goal of becoming a stronger player in India's rapidly growing steel industry. The completion of the new plant is expected to create significant opportunities for the region in terms of both employment and economic development.
