Global leaders gather in Muscat to shape the future of green steel, trade, and innovation

Muscat, Oman under the esteemed patronage of H.E. Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman, the Arab Iron & Steel Union (AISU) is set to host its premier annual conference, bringing together the most influential minds in the global steel industry.

The event features an unparalleled lineup of speakers, including CEOs of major regional steel producers such as Mr. Abdulqader Al-Mubarak of Hadeed (Saudi Arabia), Dr. Mohamed Al-Faqih of Libyan Iron and Steel Company, Mr. Adel Khemane of SNS (Algeria), and Mr. Hatim Senhaji of Maghreb Steel. The conference will also welcome global policy leaders like Mr. Stephan Raes from the OECD and renowned economists such as Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Secretary-General's Envoy for Financial Development, and Dr. Alia Al Mahdi, former Dean of Cairo University’s Faculty of Economics.

A major highlight of the summit is the participation of Mr. Ahmed Ezz, Chairman of Ezz Steel and newly elected Chairman of the Board of the Arab Iron & Steel Union. As the founder of the largest steel producer in the Arab world and Africa, Mr. Ezz’s visionary leadership and receipt of the prestigious Willy Korf/Ken Iverson Steel Vision Award underscore his global impact on the industry.

The UAE’s industrial powerhouse will be represented by H.E. Engineer Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, Group CEO of EMSTEEL, who is also the first Arab official to have chaired the Economic Committee of the World Steel Association. His insights on sustainable growth and the UAE’s ‘Operation 300bn’ industrial strategy are highly anticipated.

Further enriching the dialogue are global market analysts and strategists, including Mr. Erik Hedborg (Head of Steelmaking Raw Materials, CRU), Mr. Edward James (Head of Content & Research, MEED), and Ms. Ekaterina Ourakova (Ferrous Market Analyst, Argus Media), who will provide critical perspectives on global supply chains, market trends, and the future of raw materials.

The conference agenda spans ten dynamic panels covering CEO summits, procurement strategies, green steel technologies, trade remedies, and hydrogen’s role in decarbonizing steel production, featuring speakers from VALE, LKAB, SAMARCO, MIDREX, Danieli, PwC, and Qatar Steel, among others.

Adding to the event’s prestige, SteelRadar continues its longstanding partnership as a media partner of the AISU Conference, delivering comprehensive coverage and expert industry insights to its global audience year after year. As a leading digital platform for steel market intelligence, SteelRadar plays a vital role in connecting stakeholders and amplifying the key discussions shaping the future of the industry.
