According to data released by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in 13 countries, accounting for about 87% of the world's total DRI production in 2024, was 11.05 million tonnes in June this year, down 8.9% month-on-month and up 1.7% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the first half of this year was 64.24 million tonnes, up 4.3% from the same period in 2024.
Worldsteel data shows that India was the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in June this year, with an output of 4.81 million tonnes in the month. India was followed by Iran, Russia and Saudi Arabia in June with outputs of 3.5 million tonnes, 670,000 tonnes and 598,000 tonnes, respectively.
