The World Steel Association (WorldSteel) announced the crude steel production figures for July 2025. Accordingly, crude steel production of 70 countries in the world decreased by 1.3% in July 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 150.1 million tonnes (Mt).
Looking on a regional basis, Africa’s crude steel production decreased by 2% compared to the same period of the previous year, declining to 1.9 million tonnes. In the Asia and Oceania region, production fell by 1.9% to 110.4 million tonnes. The EU (27) countries recorded a 7% decrease to 10.2 million tonnes, while production in other European countries increased by 2.6% to 3.6 million tonnes.
In the Middle East, crude steel production rose by 27.7% to 4.4 million tonnes. In North America, production increased by 5.8% to 9.4 million tonnes. In Russia, other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and Ukraine, production decreased by 5.1% to 6.7 million tonnes. In South America, production fell by 4.5% to 3.6 million tonnes.
On a country basis, China’s crude steel production in July decreased by 4% compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 79.7 million tonnes. India’s production increased by 14% to 14 million tonnes. Japan’s production decreased by 2.5% to 6.9 million tonnes. The USA’s production rose by 4.8% to 7.1 million tonnes. Russia’s production is estimated to have decreased by 2.4% to 5.7 million tonnes.
South Korea’s production fell by 4.7% to 5.3 million tonnes, while Turkey’s production increased by 4.2% to 3.2 million tonnes. In Germany, production fell by 13.7% to 2.7 million tonnes. In Brazil, production decreased by 5.5% to 2.9 million tonnes, while Iran’s production increased by 29.7% to 2.2 million tonnes.
