German steel sales increased by 7.4% y/y and 6.7% m/m to 838 thousand tons in October.
Among steel products, flat steel products increased by 6.5% y/y and 10.7% m/m. Sales in this product group reached 511.86 thousand tons, accounting for a significant portion of total sales. Sales of long products, on the other hand, increased by 5.2% y/y and 1.8% m/m to 250.25 thousand tons.
The increase in sales of long products
The total sales reached 8.2 million tons in the first ten months of the year, up by 0.6% compared to last year. In this period, sales of flat steel products decreased by 2.5% to 5 million tons. Meanwhile, sales of long products increased by 2.5% to 2.4 million tons.
German steelmakers produced 3.22 million tons in October. This production figure increased by 7.7% compared to the same month last year and 14.7% compared to the previous month. Rolled steel production increased by 7.1% y/y and 7.4% m/m to 2.77 million tons.
