Speaking at the congress, Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of the Board of Tosyalı Holding and BMC, made statements regarding production capacity in the iron and steel sector, technology investments, and international growth plans.
Tosyalı stated that Tosyalı Holding has become the largest steel pipe producer in Europe, noting that they possess the production infrastructure to meet all pipeline infrastructure projects across Europe, particularly for gas and water. He emphasized that the company has established a strong position in the European market in terms of both quality and technology, adding that they focus on high value-added and advanced technology products in their production processes.
“We are the number one steel pipe producer in Europe,” Tosyalı said, adding that they are one of the three companies in the world capable of producing the thinnest steel. He explained that they manufacture steel as thin as tissue paper and phyllo dough, noting that such production requires highly sensitive processes and advanced engineering infrastructure. He stated that these products are primarily used in defense, automotive, and specialized industrial applications.
Highlighting their recent investments in automation and digitalization, Tosyalı said that thanks to automation, they maintain a workforce of around 800 employees at their facilities in Türkiye. At their integrated production complex in Algeria, which is built on a 9 million square meter area, only 54 employees are required due to advanced automation systems. He noted that this model provides significant advantages in terms of efficiency and cost control.
Referring to ongoing international investments, Tosyalı announced plans to establish a new factory in Benghazi, Libya, as part of their North Africa growth strategy. He stated that this investment aims to increase regional production capacity and facilitate access to new markets.
In his speech, Tosyalı also addressed activities in the defense industry, providing information about the mass production of the domestically developed Altay main battle tank by BMC. He said that Altay is a platform integrated with national communication networks and capable of communicating via national satellites. He added that they have also begun modernization projects for tanks belonging to friendly and allied countries.
In the opening speech of the congress, Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of the Presidency Investment and Finance Office, emphasized that conducting business in an environment of uncertainty requires strong leadership. He stated that entrepreneurship plays a significant role not only in the business world but also in various other fields, adding that the entrepreneurial spirit is a key driver in economic and technological transformation processes.
