The company is preparing to increase both production capacity and employment at its component factory in Bursa by 2.5 times, while its upcoming Railway Innovation and Integration Laboratory, set to open in 2026 at the Teknopark Istanbul Engineering and Technology Center, will serve not only Türkiye but also the Africa–Middle East–Central Asia (AMECA) region.
“Türkiye: A Hub for Production and Innovation”
During his visit to Türkiye, Martin Vaujour, President of Alstom’s AMECA region, emphasized that Türkiye is at the core of the company’s regional strategy. “Türkiye is not just a market for Alstom; it is a hub for innovation, production, and growth. The heart of our engineering capability that drives AMECA projects beats here,” Vaujour said.
Having taken office in June 2025, Vaujour noted that his first international visit was to Türkiye. “Türkiye lies at the heart of this strategic region. Our 420-strong professional team here leads projects not only in Turkey but across the region,” he added.
Bursa Factory Expands, Employment Grows
Alstom’s component factory in Bursa, which began production in 2024, currently employs over 250 people. The company plans to expand both its workforce and production capacity in the coming period.
Vaujour highlighted the factory’s growing role as a center for talent development, mentioning the company’s female welder training program: “Through this program, we bring women with no prior welding experience into the industry. We currently have four female welders, and we aim to increase this number.”
“Ready for New Tenders”
Vaujour noted that Alstom has provided signaling systems for 740 kilometers of mainline and 180 kilometers of urban rail lines across Türkiye. “So far, we’ve delivered nearly 1,000 kilometers of signaling solutions in Türkiye. We’re ready for upcoming tenders with our strong local team,” he said.
Supporting Türkiye’s Sustainable Mobility Vision
Vaujour underlined that the transport sector accounts for 23 percent of global carbon emissions, making railways essential to achieving net-zero goals. “Türkiye's vision to expand its modern railway network in line with its 2053 Net Zero Target is exciting for us. With our energy-efficient solutions, signaling technologies, and sustainable systems, we will continue to support Türkiye’s journey,” he said.
“We Work with 25 Suppliers in Türkiye”
Alstom currently collaborates with over 25 local suppliers in Türkiye, who together represent an estimated annual market value of 50 million euros. The company is projected to generate around 100 million euros in added value from Türkiye by the end of 2025.
“Turkey’s investment environment has gained strong momentum in recent years. Rail system investments are steadily increasing, and as part of this growth, we are committed to contributing to Turkey in the long term,” Vaujour concluded.
