Foulath Holding to launch the world’s largest rooftop solar project at Bahrain Steel facilities

Bahrai based Foulath Holding has announced that, in collaboration with its subsidiaries Bahrain Steel and SULB Company, it has signed a partnership agreement with Yellow Door Energy to implement one of the world’s largest rooftop solar energy projects.

The project will feature a total system capacity of 123 megawatts, including a 50-megawatt rooftop solar power plant — set to become the largest single-site installation of its kind in the world. Approximately 77,000 solar panels will be installed across 262,000 square meters of the Bahrain Steel facilities.

The project will comprise 10 rooftop and 4 ground-mounted systems. It is expected to generate around 200 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually and reduce carbon emissions by 90,000 tons. Under the agreement, Yellow Door Energy will be responsible for financing, designing, constructing, and operating the project.

Bahrain’s Minister of Sustainable Development, Nour bint Ali Al Khulaif, stated that the project will support the country’s renewable energy goals. Yellow Door Energy CEO Jeremy Crane added that the initiative will enhance clean energy use across industrial facilities.

Meanwhile, Foulath Holding CEO Dilip George emphasized that the project aligns with the company’s environmentally conscious production goals, saying: “This project will help us improve energy efficiency while reducing carbon emissions.”
