According to the figures, foreign trade deficit increased by 38.8% in June compared to the same period of the previous year and reached USD 8.2 billion. This increase showed that the deterioration in the foreign trade balance continued.
Minister Bolat emphasized that exports generally followed a positive course in the first 6 months of the year and added, "In June, our exports reached USD 20.5 billion with an increase of 8%. This rate was the highest monthly increase in the last 12 months." Bolat stated that exports increased on a monthly basis in 5 of the first 6 months of this year.
In the first half of the year, Türkiye's total exports increased by 4.1% to USD 131.4 billion. In the same period last year, this figure was USD 126.2 billion. “As of June 2025, our exports for the last 12 months reached an all-time high of USD 267 billion,” Minister Bolat stated.
Imports on the rise again
On the import side, a volume of USD 28.7 billion was recorded in June with an annual increase of 15.3%. Thus, although imports remained below USD 30 billion again, the upward trend was noteworthy.
Foreign trade deficit in the first half of the year was USD 49.4 billion
In the first 6 months of 2025, the foreign trade deficit increased by 16.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 49.4 billion. Minister Bolat stated that these data reveal the increase in the foreign trade deficit, but that the momentum in exports forms the basis of a sustainable growth.
