Local hot roll prices in Southern Europe were assessed at EUR820/mt ex Italy on 19 May, down by EUR25/mt on a weekly basis.
Offers were reported at €820-850/mt ex-Italy, while deals were concluded at €800-850/mt ex-Italy.
In Southern Europe, import slab prices were assessed at $610/mt CIF Italy, down $40/mt on the week.
Most market sources reported offers of $600/mt CIF Italy for Asian slab.
However, one source said that the lowest offers suitable for slab production were at $620-630/mt CIF Italy.
Some producers in Northwest Europe said that they lowered their offers to sell surplus cargoes in the spot market.
S355jr grade plate is being offered at €950/mt for delivery to Germany.
