Alok Sharma met with RK Singh, Union Minister for Power and Renewable Energy at the UN Climate Change Conference, and agreed that the UK would cooperate with India on green hydrogen.
Singh reported that by March 2021, India had eliminated 16,369 MW of inefficient thermal units.
According to media reports, both sides showed interest in exploring the possibility of establishing a World bank for Green Energy.
It can realize the $100 billion climate finance proposal committed by developed countries under the Paris Agreement.
The England has asked India to support the holding of a successful COP26 (UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties) to be held in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November.
Singh showed India's interest in partnering with Britain on offshore wind. He also emphasized that developed and developing countries should cooperate to reduce the cost of storage.
The minister told the UK delegation that India is the only G20 country under the Paris Agreement whose activities follow nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
Discussions were held throughout the meeting regarding the need to increase storage capacity as India has an ambitious target of 450 MW of installed Renewable Capacity by 2030.
