EMSTEEL recognized for the second time as Sustainability Champion for 2025

EMSTEEL, one of the leading steel and construction materials producers in the Middle East and North Africa region, has been awarded the Steel Sustainability Champion for 2025 by the World Steel Association. This prestigious award symbolizes the company's outstanding efforts in the field of sustainability and an achievement that reinforces its leading position in the industry. By receiving this award for the second time in a row, EMSTEEL continued its sustainability-focused leadership in the region.

The award was presented in Sydney at the Worldsteel Steel Sustainability Champions awards ceremony, now in its eighth year. EMSTEEL was recognized for its concrete steps in environmental responsibility and innovation. The company's realization of the first green hydrogen demonstration project in the MENA region demonstrated its visionary approach in this field and the sustainable solutions it offers to the industry.

EMSTEEL, which is also increasing its effectiveness in the international arena, co-chairs the Alliance for Industry Decarbonisation and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 54% by 2030 with 84 partners. It also plans to reduce emissions in its steel and cement businesses by 40% and 30%, respectively, and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Engineer Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, CEO of EMSTEEL, stated that this award is a reflection of the company's commitment to sustainability and added: “The steps we are taking towards a cleaner and more sustainable future are part of a major transformation not only for the steel industry but for all global industrial structures.”
