Blastr Green Steel has successfully completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for its planned steel plant in Inkoo, Finland.

EIA process completed for Blastr Green Steel's steel mill project

The Uusimaa Economic Development, Transport and Environment Center (ELY Centre) has published its reasoned conclusion on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for Blastr's low-emission steel plant. This important milestone lays the foundation for obtaining the necessary environmental permits for the project to move forward and also supports Inkoo municipality in finalizing its development plans.

Antti Kaikkonen, Managing Director of Blastr Green Steel, thanked all those involved in the process, stating, “This was a fundamental undertaking of summary and long-term preparations. We worked with a large team of experts and planned the project with detailed technical planning.”

The aim of the project is to drastically reduce emissions, comparing with traditional steel production. The factory will use clean energy instead of coal in the production process and will rely on materials produced with clean energy. In this way, negative impacts on the environment will be minimized, supporting international climate goals.

The project is also expected to make a major contribution to economic and business activity in the Inkoo and West Uusimaa regions, creating significant opportunities for local employment and investment. “A more sustainable future and a healthier planet are part of Blastr's mission. However, all industrial activity has its place in some places,” Kaikkonen noted.

Blastr's steel mill project will contribute to regional economic development while taking an important step towards environmentally friendly production.
