The Trade Remedies Authority under Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade announced that the anti-dumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled, galvanized, and coated steel sheets originating from or exported by China and Turkey has been extended by six months.
The investigation was initially launched on October 31, 2024, following a request by Kandil Steel’s subsidiaries Galvametal and Kama Metal. The companies claimed that such imports caused significant harm to the domestic industry.
The Ministry stated that throughout the process, all parties’ opinions were obtained, on-site inspections were conducted, and audits took place at producer companies in China and Turkey. However, due to the need to evaluate additional evidence and documents submitted by different parties, extra time was required to complete the investigation.
Officials also emphasized that other trade investigations—such as global safeguard measures on cold-rolled, galvanized, and coated steel imports, measures against hot-rolled flat steel imports, and safeguards on billet imports from around the world—are being conducted independently. They highlighted that international trade rules do not prevent simultaneous investigations, even if they involve similar products.
With this latest decision, the anti-dumping investigation on flat steel products originating from China and Turkey is now expected to continue until the first quarter of 2026.
