DP World Egypt stood out in June with three major operations at Sokhna Port. Among them, the highlight was the largest iron ore shipment ever received by Egypt.
The bulk vessel Berge Kuju arrived from Brazil, carrying 180,008 tons of iron ore, which was delivered to Ezz Steel. This marks the largest dry bulk cargo handled by any Egyptian port to date. The shipment is part of a broader plan aiming to handle 6 million tons of iron ore annually at Sokhna.
Commenting on the achievement, DP World Egypt CEO Mohammad Shihab said:
“Sokhna Port is capable of handling a wide range of vessels – from LNG carriers and bulk ships to cruise liners – in line with international standards. Our advanced infrastructure allows us to carry out operations swiftly and safely.”
The company is also advancing its USD 80 million Sokhna Logistics Park project, which aims to further expand the port’s trade and logistics capabilities. The development is expected to support Egypt’s goal of becoming a regional logistics hub.
