According to a statement by Třinecké Železárny, the company will modernize the dust removal system of daily storage bunkers used to prepare blast furnace charge at its sinter plant.
As part of the CZK 400 million project, new reinforced concrete bunkers will be installed to replace the existing equipment. The facility will also be equipped with modern filtration systems to control emissions generated during the handling of dusty raw materials.
Daniel Heczko, Investment Director at Třinecké Železárny, said the project will include the repair and reinforcement of the bunkers’ supporting columns, while the existing reinforced concrete bunker structures will be dismantled and replaced with new ones. Heczko noted that the work will be carried out while the sinter plant remains in continuous operation.
Central filter and dry fog system to be installed
The project also includes an expansion of the existing electricity distribution infrastructure, as well as the installation of a new overhead line, stormwater sewer and drainage system.
The discharge points beneath the bunkers will be connected to a central filtration system. In addition, a “dry fog” system will be used to reduce the spread of dust into the environment.
According to the company, the project has been approved for support under the Operational Programme Environment. The programme will cover 55% of the project’s eligible costs.
During the sintering process, fine iron ore and other fine raw materials are combined at high temperatures to produce sinter. The resulting sinter is then used as a blast furnace charge material in pig iron production.
