Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released consumer confidence index data for March. Accordingly, the consumer confidence index fell by 0.8% month-on-month in March, declining from 85.7 in February to 85.0.
The index for households' current financial situation rose by 2% month-on-month in March, increasing from 71.3 to 72.8. However, the index for households' financial situation expectations over the next 12 months decreased by 1.3%, falling from 86.8 in February to 85.6.
The index for general economic situation expectations over the next 12 months dropped by 2.9%, declining from 81.4 in February to 79.1.
In March, the index for consumers' propensity to purchase durable goods also showed a slight decline, falling by 0.5% from 103.2 the previous month to 102.7.
These figures indicate a modest weakening in consumers' economic expectations, though the improvement in perceptions of current household finances partially offsets the overall fluctuation in consumer confidence.
