Şahin emphasized that, especially in sales across Anatolia, many vehicles are advertised as “long-range” even though their actual range is short. Since this information does not appear in the registration or technical documents, buyers rely solely on the wording in the insurance policy when purchasing the vehicle and may end up paying TL 200,000–300,000 more.
“Insurance companies should issue policies based on the vehicle’s official documents, not the seller’s declaration,” Şahin said, adding that insurance companies could also bear legal responsibility due to misleading information.
He urged consumers not to proceed with purchases of second hand electric vehicles without conducting technical inspections and reviewing the documents.
