The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) stated that including steel products in the export licensing system is a critical step supporting high-quality growth in the country’s steel sector.

CISA: export license in steel a critical step for high-quality sector transformation

According to the association, this measure contributes to maintaining the global steel supply–demand balance, regulating trade flows, and strengthening China’s image as a “responsible major power.”

CISA emphasized that enhancing export management holds strategic importance, particularly in aligning with the new development model that prioritizes domestic demand. The association stated that this step accelerates internal circulation, directs local demand for steel products more effectively, and supports the structural transformation of the sector.

The statement also noted that the export licensing system encourages industrial upgrading and provides a more balanced platform for collaboration with international supply chains amid globalization. CISA stated that the standardized export process facilitates the integration of trade channels, creating more harmonious interactions between global and domestic markets. This approach plays a key role in the long-term transformation of the sector and improving competitiveness.

The association additionally stated that the implementation contributes to strengthening brand value and improving quality management, enabling Chinese steel products to achieve a stronger position in global markets.
