According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China's crude steel production stood at 92.78 mnt in April 2022, down almost 5% from 97.85 mnt a year earlier. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a decline in crude steel production as well as production cuts due to China's carbon neutrality goals. However, on a monthly basis, steel production increased by 5% compared to 88.3 mnt in March.
