China’s steel exports rose 3.1% in September

According to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, China exported 10.465 million tons of steel in September, up 3.1% compared to the same month last year.

In the January–September period, China’s total steel exports reached 87.955 million tons, marking a 9.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Steel imports in September totaled 548 thousand tons, down 1.1% year-on-year. During the January–September period, imports amounted to 4.532 million tons, representing a 12.6% decline compared to the same period last year.

Analysts noted that the increase in China’s exports in September indicates the continued efficient utilization of its production capacity despite fluctuations in global demand. Meanwhile, the decline in imports is attributed to the prominence of domestic production and the impact of global raw material prices.
