The data on China’s stainless steel and main raw material imports and exports for July 2025 and the January–July period have been released. According to the data, China’s stainless steel imports reached 900,500 tons in the first seven months of the year, while exports totaled 2,916,300 tons.
In July, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to 73,000 tons, down 33.3% compared to the previous month and 38.99% lower than in July 2024. Imports from Indonesia totaled 46,200 tons, a decrease of 45.77% from the previous month and 51.77% compared to July 2024. Hot-rolled steel imports in July were 17,400 tons, up 29.85% from the previous month, while cold-rolled steel imports fell to 24,500 tons, down 46.39% compared to July 2024. Slab imports totaled 1,000 tons, and billets and other steel billets amounted to 3,200 tons.
During the January–July period, total stainless steel imports fell 26.64% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 900,500 tons, of which 739,600 tons came from Indonesia. Hot-rolled coil imports were 116,200 tons, cold-rolled coil 508,800 tons, and billets and other steel products 114,600 tons.
On the export side, China exported 416,200 tons of stainless steel in July 2025, an increase of 6.74% from June and 1.39% higher than in July 2024. Total exports for January–July reached 2.9163 million tons, up 5.08% compared to the same period in 2024. Net exports in July were 343,200 tons, up 22.37% from June and 18% higher than July 2024. For January–July 2025, total net exports were 2.0159 million tons, an increase of 30.23% compared to the same period in 2024.
