China's crude steel production fell 3.5 percent year on year to 96.61 mnt in May 2022. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), volumes increased 4% from the previous month compared to 92.78 mnt in April 2022. Average daily crude steel production in the country in May was 3.11 mnt, up 0.7 percent month on month.
In the January-May period, crude steel production decreased by 8.7 percent year on year to 435.02 mnt.
Finished steel production last month was 122.61 mnt, down 2.3 percent year on year. Average daily steel production in May rose 3.3 percent month on month to 3.95 mnt.
Production in the January-May period amounted to 549.31 mnt, down 5.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
