Accordingly, during the January–August period, national coking coal production increased by 2.8% year-on-year to reach 334.06 million tons. In August alone, coking coal output rose 3.9% year-on-year and 1.8% month-on-month to 42.6 million tons. The average daily coking coal production also increased 1.8% month-on-month to 1.37 million tons.
On the other hand, pig iron production during the same period fell 1.1% year-on-year to 579.07 million tons. In August, pig iron output rose 1% year-on-year but fell 1.4% month-on-month to 69.79 million tons. The average daily pig iron production also decreased 1.4% month-on-month to 2.25 million tons.
Crude steel production declined 2.8% year-on-year to 671.81 million tons during January–August. In August, output decreased 0.7% year-on-year and 2.9% month-on-month to 77.37 million tons. The average daily crude steel production also fell 2.9% month-on-month to 2.5 million tons.
National steel production, however, rose 5.5% year-on-year to 982.17 million tons over the same period. In August, production increased 9.7% year-on-year but fell 0.1% month-on-month to 122.77 million tons. The average daily steel production also decreased 0.1% month-on-month to 3.96 million tons.
