Primetals Technologies announced that it has received the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) from Celsa France for the successful completion of the upgrade project at the finishing end of the company’s wire rod line. The project involved a full replacement of the finishing block and reform station, eliminating unplanned downtimes caused by previously installed third-party equipment.
Higher Efficiency and Product Quality
The newly installed Morgan Vee No-Twist Mill resolves the reliability issues of the previous system, enabling stable operation at speeds of up to 105 meters per second for low-, medium-, and high-carbon steel grades. This upgrade has led to increased productivity, reduced maintenance costs, and shorter roll-change times. The new gearbox system was seamlessly integrated into Celsa France’s existing motor setup, demonstrating the flexibility and compatibility of Primetals Technologies’ design.
Leadership in Circular Steel Production
Celsa Group stands as Europe’s first circular and low-emission steel producer, operating the continent’s largest circular supply chain. The company recycles ferrous scrap in electric arc furnaces to produce sustainable steel for the construction, automotive, energy, and oil & gas sectors. Its product range includes rebar, wire rod, wire, billets, profiles, and merchant bars.
This latest modernization strengthens Celsa France’s commitment to sustainable production and operational excellence, while reinforcing its partnership with Primetals Technologies in advancing high-tech, environmentally efficient steelmaking solutions.
