Canada imposes provisional duty on steel wire imports including Türkiye

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), as part of the anti-dumping investigation launched on April 22, 2025, announced its preliminary findings on imports of carbon or alloy steel wire with a diameter of up to 24.13 mm. Accordingly, provisional anti-dumping duties were imposed as of September 4, 2025, on products originating from China, Taiwan, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Türkiye, and Vietnam.

The products covered by the investigation consist of carbon and alloy steel wires, whether coated or uncoated with zinc, zinc-aluminum alloy, or other coatings, and which may also be sheathed with base metals or plastics, in round or other cross-sectional shapes. Stainless steel wire, high-speed steel wire, and welding wires are excluded from the investigation.

These products are generally classified under subheadings of tariff items 7217 and 7229 of the Customs Tariff Schedule. The CBSA emphasized that tariff codes may change and that the binding criterion is the product definition.
