British Steel to modernise its wire rod mill with Primetals Technologies

Primetals Technologies said the project will provide high capacity and high-speed pipe connections to existing wire mill units, and two pre-finishing machines will allow steel bar to enter the reduction sizing machine to add product dimensions.

Some market participants estimate that after the factory completes its modernisation, its annual wire production capacity will reach 700,000 tonnes and will have a more precise machining tolerance with diameters up to 28 mm and a better surface finish.
