Austrian Benteler Steel/Tube has confirmed that it will close its pipe plant in Rothrist, Switzerland, by the end of 2023, due to challenges such as export restrictions and high energy and raw material costs in the global welded pipe market.
The factory, where approximately 300 people are employed, produces welded drawn pipes for industrial and automotive purposes. The company is currently discussing the details of the social plan with the workers council, trying to find the best path for all parties and to minimize the period of uncertainty for workers.
