This step is considered an important milestone in the company’s flagship iron ore project.
Located about 16 km south of the Ken’s Bore mine, the new hub is the project’s second production area, contributing to a single iron ore blend. MinRes Executive General Manager Onslow Iron Mike Tonkin emphasized the project’s efficient and safe progress, noting a record shipment of 3.2 million tonnes in August 2025.
Ore extracted from the new hub is crushed and processed at the Ken’s Bore facilities before being transported via a 150 km private haul road to the Port of Ashburton, where transhipper vessels load the product onto larger ships waiting offshore.
Tonkin also thanked the Robe River Kuruma people, the Traditional Owners of the area, for their continued support in the project’s development.
