Amendments to the OIZ Law will lay the groundwork for new advantages

Hasan Ruhi Koçak, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone (TARSUSOSB) and Chairman of the Tarsus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who put forward his views on the changes made within the scope of the OIZ Law, which was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force, said that it will provide advantages to OIZs in many areas, industrial investments and He underlined that it will speed up the production.

Amendments to the OIZ Law will lay the groundwork for new advantages

On the subject, President Koçak said, "The new law has paved the way for the pre-allocation application in OIZs, now, while the site selection and expropriation processes are continuing, our OIZs will be able to pre-allocate to the investors over the determined price, and building permits will be granted with the regulation to be based on the law." He made his statement.

The construction works of nearly 10 companies allocated and given building permits in Tarsus OSB continue, and with the new law, for the parcels that have not been registered, the expropriation fee will be paid and the construction permit will be issued, without waiting for the registration decision, so that the industrialists will be able to start construction. With the regulation to be issued, we plan to issue allocation certificates to almost all 150 industrialists in Tarsus OIZ.

The amendment made in the Law will not only solve the current problems, but also solve the problems of other OIZs, such as Tarsus OIZ, which have applied for additional space. The total area of Tarsus OIZ is currently 530 hectares, and we have made our applications for an additional 320 hectares of expansion area.

We have fulfilled the necessary procedures so far, if the Ministry is approved, our total area will exceed 800 hectares and the new law will make a great contribution to the rapid progress and industrialization of our OIZ.

Investments will increase employment

Pointing out that there is an increase in the number of factories in Tarsus OIZ, and that as the investments become clear, there will be employment of at least 10 thousand people in the region, Koçak stated that their current main goal is to meet the need for intermediate staff.

Koçak said, “A company that starts production will start with a minimum of 200 people. We are worried about the lack of intermediate staff, and we have already started working for this.

Negotiations continue for the urgent construction of a Vocational and Technical High School in Tarsus OIZ. Before the completion of the construction phase of the factories, we will open a Vocational and Technical High School with a capacity of over a thousand students, and we will train personnel to meet the needs of the investors in the region.

Areas determined by a need-oriented arrangement within the OIZ will be leased

Mayor Koçak also emphasized that they are in project preparation in cooperation with Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and said, “We are developing a project for the companies that will pass from the small industrial site to the OIZ. Depending on the demand, we will rent 500 m2, 1000 m2, 1500 m2 areas under OIZ conditions at affordable prices.

We will support our industrialists who want to move from small-scale industry to medium-scale, and thus, we will create a sub-industry for large investors in the OIZ.”

A large 400 MVA electricity transmission center will be built by TEIAS

President Koçak stated that a 400 MVA electricity transmission center will be built by TEİAŞ in order to meet the energy needs of Tarsus OSB, but the tendered construction work would take 600 days, and that they could not supply electricity to the factories that started or will start operating due to the long duration, and therefore production could not be made fully. Noting that, “We have factories that will start operating now, as well as many industrialists who want to start construction activities, but we cannot supply electricity.

There are 4 mobile power plants in the Ministry of Energy, and we are negotiating to transfer one of them to this region. We can easily solve this problem with a temporary mobile switchboard until the main investment is finished. This is what we expect from the Ministry of Energy at the moment," he said.

President Koçak stated that after the electricity production in the Berdan Dam, they established a pump station to transfer water to Tarsus OSB, in the spillway section next to the water left behind, and that a pipeline of 11 kilometers was laid from here to the OSB, and that they will commission the system next week, He stated that they will fill the water tanks with a capacity of 5000 tons and a total capacity of 10 thousand tons, and as of June, the entire infrastructure will be ready to provide water from the tanks to all the parcels in the OIZ.
