Alfapipe’s new steel pipe production facility officially started operations

The Alfapipe-Battioua production facility, located in Oran province, Algeria, has officially started operations with an annual capacity of 360,000 tons of steel pipes. Equipped with a coating line and staffed by 160 employees, the facility will contribute to strategic infrastructure projects.

Alfapipe’s new steel pipe production facility officially started operations

EPE ALFAPIPE SPA, operating under The National Steel Holding Company (SNS), one of Algeria’s leading steel producers, inaugurated its new production facility in the Battioua area of Oran province on July 9, 2025.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry Saifi Ghrib, Governor of Oran Samir Chibani, the Provincial Assembly Chairman, the Battioua District Head, and a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and local authorities. During the event, a presentation on the facility’s technical infrastructure and production capacity was made, followed by a site tour of the coating and steel pipe manufacturing lines.

It was noted that the facility was established by reactivating an industrial asset previously seized by the state. Minister Ghrib emphasized the facility’s important role in infrastructure projects such as energy, irrigation, and seawater desalination, while highlighting the strict adherence needed to production and occupational safety standards.

Currently employing 160 workers, the new facility aims to reach an annual production capacity of 360,000 tons of welded steel pipes. The facility also features a specialized coating line capable of applying internal and external coatings over an area of up to 300 square meters per hour.

This investment is expected to support ALFAPIPE’s goal to increase its production capacity, while also advancing Algeria’s strategy for industrial growth based on domestic resources.
