AISI President and CEO Kevin Dempsey stated in his remarks that the decisions taken will ensure that all steel products, including steel pipes and tubes, fully benefit from the 50% tariff rate.
Dempsey also expressed that they welcome the steps taken to simplify the implementation process of tariffs on critical steel derivative products. He emphasized that these regulations will enable the existing tariff program to operate effectively and efficiently in an environment where the global steel oversupply continues to grow due to foreign subsidies and trade-distorting practices.
The statement highlighted the importance of maintaining Section 232 tariffs in the long term, noting that these measures will contribute to protecting domestic production capacity in the United States and encouraging new investments in the steel sector.
AISI thanked the Trump administration for its strong support to the steel sector and announced that it is ready to cooperate in efforts to ensure fair competition conditions for American steel producers and manufacturers.
