The 17th Term Collective Labor Agreement between Karabük Demir Çelik Fabrikası (KARDEMİR) and Özçelik-İş Union was signed with a ceremony.

17th Term Collective Labor Agreement signed at KARDEMİR

The ceremony, which took place at the company's headquarters in Karabük, was attended by KARDEMİR Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Board Members Kamil Güleç and H. Abdullah Kaya, General Manager Dr. Dursunali Yaşacan, Özçelik-İş Union President Yunus Değirmenci and the union's headquarters and branch executives.

"We tried to do the best we could on both sides"

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KARDEMİR, stated that KARDEMİR, which has a structure at peace with its employees, has once again demonstrated this understanding with this contract. Stating that it took a while, Demir said, "We tried to do the best we could on both sides. The period we are in and the situation in the sector are well known, but Karabük is the heart of Türkiye's heavy industry. KARDEMİR is one of our first heavy industry facilities."

Emphasizing that Karabük is a city of workers, Demir stated, "We do not believe that KARDEMİR can go anywhere if its employees are not satisfied, if they are not shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand and arm in arm with their employers. We have never had a culture that believes that the company can be developed by cutting from the pockets of the workers."

Stating that they will focus on improving the factory and increasing productivity in the following period, Demir continued: "We have taken the basic step for KARDEMİR to achieve a more profitable, more efficient and more aggressive structure. With this determination and determination, I wish that our contract will be beneficial to both our employees, our company and our country."

In his speech, Özçelik-İş Union President Yunus Değirmenci described their relationship with KARDEMİR as a “family bond” and stated that negotiations were carried out easily with this understanding. Değirmenci stated, “I had the honor of signing the easiest collective bargaining agreement in my nearly 40 years of trade unionism. On this occasion, I would like to thank everyone who contributed, especially our Chairman of the Board. We cannot be without KARDEMİR and KARDEMİR cannot be without us.”

Following the speeches, the 17th Term Collective Labor Agreement became official with the mutual signatures of the parties.
