HABAŞ’s new cargo ship “M/V Gülsel Hanım” launched

HABAŞ continues its shipbuilding and repair activities at Yıldız Shipyard and Çiçek Shipyard, which it has added to its group. The company launched the 40,000 DWT general cargo ship “M/V Gülsel Hanım,” built at Yıldız Shipyard, in a ceremony.

The vessel is 180 meters long and 30 meters wide, with its weight stated at 11,500 tons. “M/V Gülsel Hanım” is among the largest ships built on a slipway in Türkiye.

The sister ship is planned to be laid down in October.

HABAŞ’s Shipyard Investments

Speaking at the ceremony, HABAŞ Chairman of the Board Mehmet Başaran stated that the group is continuing the industrial journey initiated 95 years ago by its founder, Hamdi Başaran, with investments in the maritime sector.

Başaran said that they acquired Yıldız Shipyard approximately five years ago and Çiçek Shipyard last year, adding that these investments have increased their shipbuilding capacity and enabled them to begin ship repair activities.
