Global crude steel production decreases by 4.6% in November

Global crude steel production decreased by 4.6% year on year to 140.1 million tonnes (Mt) in November 2025.

Global crude steel production decreases by 4.6% in November

The World Steel Association (WorldSteel) announced crude steel production figures for November 2025. Accordingly, total crude steel production of 70 countries decreased by 4.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 140.1 Mt.

Crude steel production by region

Africa’s crude steel production increased by 7.4% year on year to 2.0 Mt in November 2025. Production in Asia and Oceania recorded a decrease of 7.1% to 99.9 Mt. The EU (27) produced 10.2 Mt, down by 3.5%, while crude steel production in other European regions increased by 9.8% to 3.7 Mt. The Middle East recorded an increase of 8.2%, reaching 5.5 Mt. North America’s production increased by 5.4% to 9.0 Mt. Production in Russia, other CIS countries and Ukraine decreased by 3.9% to 6.3 Mt. South America produced 3.5 Mt of crude steel, up by 2.4%.

China’s crude steel production decreased by 10.9% year on year to 69.9 Mt in November. During the same period, India’s production increased by 10.8% to 13.7 Mt, while US production increased by 8.5% to 6.8 Mt. Japan’s crude steel output decreased by 1.6% to 6.8 Mt, and Russia’s production decreased by 6.6% to 5.2 Mt. South Korea recorded a decrease of 4.8% to 5.0 Mt, while Türkiye’s production increased by 10% to 3.3 Mt. Germany’s output decreased by 2.6% to 2.8 Mt. Brazil produced 2.8 Mt, marking a decrease of 0.7%, while Iran recorded an increase of 9.2% to 3.4 Mt.
