Germany plans to set aside about 2 billion euros ($2.1 billion) to finance a green steel plant that Thyssenkrupp plans to build at its base in Duisburg, one of the troubled companies.
The 2 billion euros includes 700 million euros in funding committed by the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where Thyssenkrupp is headquartered, and is an important contract to support one of Germany's industrial centers.
