Germany plans to allocate €1.3 billion for decarbonization of ArcelorMittal

According to a statement by German Economy Minister Robert Habeck during a visit to the company's plant in Bremen, the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Change plans to provide €1.3 billion in subsidies for the decarbonization of ArcelorMittal's German metallurgical enterprises.

According to Robert Habeck, this project is still subject to approval by the European Commission, and the required allocation is estimated at €2.5 billion. Within the project, it is planned to replace two blast furnaces at the plants in Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt with electric arc furnaces. Furthermore, the company plans to increase the use of recycled scrap metal.

The engineering work will take place over the next 12 months.
